Parish of Christ Church Colchester

Prayer

Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. Philippians 4:6

Remember:

The World

  • World Peace
  • Mexico where Hurricane Alex has led to severe flooding
  • Southern Kyrgyzstan where fighting and violence has led to 191 deaths, 1,700 being injured and 400,000 people being displaced. Lack of security means that vital aid supplies are not reaching those who desperately need them leading to further deaths.

  • Guatemala, El Salvador and Honduras where 170 people have died and 94,000 have been made homeless following tropical storm Agatha.

  • Southern China where 46 people have died and 238,000 have been made homeless as a result of flooding.

  • Burma and Bangladesh where many have been killed in landslides.

  • India where heavy monsoon rains have killed at least 46 people.

  • Sudan where at least 600 people died in fighting in May.
  • The situation in the Gulf of Mexico over the oil spill.

  • Those affected by flooding, earthquakes and natural disasters.

  • West Africa where 10 million people are facing the prospect of severe food shortages after a combination of cyclical drought and irregular harvests

  • East Africa where 20 million people are facing life-threatening shortages of food and water, caused by severe drought.

  • Southern Africa, Zimbabwe, Iraq, India, Bangladesh, Pakistan, Palestine, Sri Lanka and Israel.

  • Those whose lives are surrounded with war and violence.
